Kimberly Wiseman, ND

This is the information page about Kimberly Wiseman. I am a Naturopathic Physician, and I am so happy you have found this website!

I believe as a lover of natural medicine, we find what we need for complete health within the world of botanical medicine.  As Hippocrates so famously said, "Let thy food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food".

This is especially poignant the last few years when so many folks have felt helpless in their ability to maintain health. My goal is to provide beneficial, practical information to be used to arm yourself with confidence in your body's ability to restore health, maintain health, and live a life of abundance and glory!

This website will explore the aspects of specific plants that effectively support, aid, and provide what we need for health. Botanical medicine is the art of discovering not only the specific properties of plants that have tremendous potential for healing in our bodies, additionally, it provides guidance for the optimal use of the botanicals in the form of supplements.  Hence, The Wise Supplement...

My hope is that what you learn within this site provides you with an informed direction to take to achieve the wellness God intended for all of us.

About Kimberly Wiseman's Education

I earned my Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University.  Bastyr is a world renown University for natural medicine. It is located in Seattle WA.

What prompted my interest in Natural Medicine

I come from a typical family of five.  I am the middle child with an older sister and a younger brother.  My sister was diagnosed with optic atrophy as a young child.  Her vision has progressively gotten worse with age. At this point in life she is pretty much completely blind using Braile to read.  As if that weren't enough of a struggle, her hearing diminished when she was in grade school to the point where she is now profoundly deaf.

Growing up beside my older sister who suffered with these extreme disabilities, I always questioned why her situation was as it was. Unfortunately, the medical community could not offer any solutions or improvement for her. Nor any reason as to why things deteriorated as they did.

This sparked my interest in natural therapies and increased my skepticism of pharmaceuticals. I would say that is primarily what prompted my journey. I have been like a duck in water when it comes to natural medicine. When it fits, you just know it..

Previous Professions

After earning my bachelor's from University of Missouri, Columbia, I moved to Boulder, Colorado.  I absolutely LOVED living in Boulder! I spent time working, of course, although not at any specific career. In Boulder I discovered I adore hiking and yoga. I enthusiastically practiced both pretty much every day.

After a bit, I did start to feel the need to pursue a "real" career. My dear Mom had been a flight attendant for American Airlines in their first jet class and always spoke so highly of the experience. The idea of traveling was very appealing, so I got a job as a flight attendant with Delta airlines. The travel experience was amazing; however, I was based in Cincinati and dearly missed the mountains, so I didn't last long with Delta.

Long story short, I moved back to Colorado, eventually living in Telluride.  There I worked as a real estate appraiser, which was fascinating, and as a children's ski instructor, which I have to admit was my favorite job.

Eventually I decided to pursue my Doctorate in Naturopathy at Bastyr.  I moved home for a year to finish up necessary prerequisites. My future husband and I then moved to Seattle where we spent the next five years.

Naturopathic Practice

After graduating from Bastyr in 2001, my husband, our daughter and I moved back to our home state.  I opened Wiseman Naturopathic Center and saw clients for several years. During that time, our family grew. We had our son and second daughter, so of course the time I could allocate to the clinic was limited.

The 2008 recession took a lot of steam out of the economy. My practice definitely felt the effects of folks tightening their financial belts. I found it necessary to pursue a new direction and started teaching Anatomy and Physiology and our local college which I did from 2010 until 2022 as an Assistant Professor.

Hobbies

My hobbies include gardening. I feel like Johnny Appleseed always seeing if I can get seeds to sprout and grow...

I love the exhilaration of downhill skiing, although the serene beauty of cross-country skiing is hard to beat.  Same for hiking in the San Juan Mountains in Southern Colorado.

Locally, we have gorgeous spring fed rivers that I spend a lot of time kayaking.

I have continued my yoga practice from my earlier years and adore the mind body connection. I have added barre to the mix as well.

This past summer I marked one off the bucket list and got scuba certified. I really resonate with the water...

Coming from a family of artists, I find painting a wonderful hobby.  The border of this website is my creation, just for fun...

For creative outlets, I really enjoy cooking. It makes me happy to prepare food that I know nourishes our bodies without the harmful additives so common these days.  What we eat has TREMENDOUS impact on our health. Choose Wisely...

Sincerely,

Dr. Kimberly Wiseman
